Prior Learning Assessment and Graduate-Level Competency

Applicants admitted without a master’s degree must demonstrate graduate-level knowledge through one or more of the
following:

Evaluation of prior learning (PLA).

Documented executive or technical professional experience.
Published research, scholarly work, patents, or significant professional contributions.
Graduate coursework completed at another institution.

The University may award graduate-level prior learning credit in accordance with its Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) policy. Prior learning credit shall not be awarded for the doctoral dissertation or other components that require original doctoral-level scholarship.

Transcript Authenticity and University Right to Disenroll

Florida Coastal University requires applicants to submit official academic transcripts and, when applicable, an evaluation of foreign academic credentials by a university-approved credential evaluation agency as a condition of admission.

Admission granted on the basis of evaluated academic credentials is conditional upon the authenticity and validity of all transcripts, diplomas, degree certificates, and other supporting academic documents submitted by or on behalf of the applicant.

If, at any time before or after enrollment, the University determines that an evaluated transcript, credential, diploma, degree certificate, or any other supporting academic document is fraudulent, altered, forged, illegitimate, or otherwise not authentic, the University reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to:

A student who is disenrolled solely because an evaluated transcript or academic credential is determined to be fraudulent or illegitimate shall receive a full refund of all tuition and mandatory fees paid to the University, provided the student was unaware of the fraud and did not knowingly submit or participate in the submission of fraudulent or altered documents. If the University determines that the student knowingly submitted or participated in the submission of fraudulent documents, the University reserves the right to deny any refund to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law and University policy.

The University may report suspected fraudulent academic credentials to the issuing institution, credential evaluation agencies, licensing or regulatory authorities, and other appropriate entities as permitted or required by law.
